I wrote 'burning embers' as I started work on the 'No Emis' album 'The Digital Delusion'. In previous releases there tended to be one track that had an acoustic feel to it. Initially the album was conceived to have a 'light' and a 'dark' half to it, and this piece would have sat in the 'light'. But the album was increasingly dark and as such the light pieces were removed as they didn't fit in.

I went back and worked with several different piano arrangements to finally come up with the piece which closes this album. The original was quite muffled in atmosphere and I wanted it to be much more airy.
